Where Are They Now

Alan Alda (Hawkeye Pierce)
After MAS*H ended, Alan Alda continued building an acclaimed career in television, film, and theater. He appeared in projects including The West Wing, The Aviator, Marriage Story, and Ray Donovan while also becoming well known for his work promoting science communication and education. Alda remains one of television’s most respected actors and is still closely associated with Hawkeye Pierce decades later.

Loretta Swit (Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan)
Following MASH, Loretta Swit continued acting in television, theater, and film while also dedicating much of her life to animal rights activism. She remained deeply connected to the legacy of MASH through interviews, reunions, and fan events over the years. Swit passed away in 2025 at the age of 87 and is still remembered as one of the most iconic female characters in television history.

Mike Farrell (B.J. Hunnicutt)
After MAS*H, Mike Farrell continued acting while also becoming heavily involved in humanitarian and political activism. He appeared in television series, films, and stage productions and later gained additional recognition for his advocacy work on human rights issues. Farrell has remained an active public voice long after his years on the series.

Harry Morgan (Colonel Sherman Potter)
Harry Morgan continued acting in television and film after MAS*H and remained beloved for his portrayal of Colonel Potter. Already a veteran actor before joining the show, Morgan became one of the series’ most comforting and recognizable figures. He passed away in 2011, but fans still remember him for bringing warmth and humanity to the role.

Jamie Farr (Max Klinger)
Jamie Farr remained active in television, theater, and public appearances after MASH ended. He became especially popular for his comedic portrayal of Klinger and continued participating in MASH reunions and nostalgia events over the years. Farr is still celebrated by longtime fans of classic television comedy.

William Christopher (Father Mulcahy)
After MAS*H, William Christopher continued appearing in television and film while also becoming an advocate for autism awareness inspired by his son’s diagnosis. His gentle portrayal of Father Mulcahy remained one of the emotional anchors of the series. Christopher passed away in 2016 and is still remembered fondly by fans of the show.

Gary Burghoff (Radar O’Reilly)
Gary Burghoff stepped away from major Hollywood acting after leaving MAS*H and focused more on family life, painting, wildlife art, and personal interests. Although he made occasional television appearances over the years, he largely chose a quieter life outside the entertainment industry. Radar remains one of the most beloved characters from the entire series.
