But after the show ended, the cast members’ lives and careers took very different paths — some stayed in Hollywood, while others stepped away from the spotlight entirely.

Tim Allen (Tim Taylor)
After Home Improvement, Tim Allen starred in The Santa Clause movies, Toy Story as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, and later returned to television in Last Man Standing, which ran for nine seasons. He remains active in comedy and television and is still closely associated with his role as Tim Taylor.

Patricia Richardson (Jill Taylor)
Patricia Richardson received multiple Emmy nominations for her role as Jill Taylor. After the show, she appeared in television series like Strong Medicine and The West Wing, along with TV movies and theater work. She largely stepped away from full-time Hollywood roles to focus on family but still appears occasionally in television projects.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Randy Taylor)
Jonathan Taylor Thomas became one of the biggest teen stars of the 1990s but stepped away from acting to focus on education, attending Harvard and Columbia. He later reunited with Tim Allen for a few episodes of Last Man Standing but has mostly stayed out of the public eye.

Zachery Ty Bryan (Brad Taylor)
After the show, Zachery Ty Bryan appeared in films and television but later moved into producing. In recent years, he has made headlines more for legal and personal issues than acting, and his life has taken a very different path from his early sitcom fame.

Richard Karn (Al Borland)
Richard Karn remained a familiar face on television, hosting the game show Family Feud from 2002 to 2006 and appearing in numerous TV movies and shows. He later reunited with Tim Allen to host the competition show Assembly Required.

Debbe Dunning (Heidi Keppert)
Debbe Dunning continued acting after the show but later stepped away from Hollywood for a quieter life. She has since appeared on reality and outdoor shows, including Debbe Dunning’s Dude Ranch Round-Up.
